Speedy and Fuming

As you may well know, “Fast & Furious” opened Friday April 3rd to critical acclaim… or something. Being a male & a gearhead I was predestined to see this movie. Earlier in the week my buddy Josh sent me an email invite to a dyno/viewing party sponsored by MA Performance, a custom fab and tune shop in Plymouth, MN. MAP rented out a theatre and gave a private screening for their customers and friends. Since it was my fate, I replied, “HELL YEAH!!!” and started counting the days. Friday finally arrived, myself and fellow men/gearheads Mike-ipedia and Jorge gathered at Josh’s. Jorge and I jumped into his Acura TL, Mike-ipedia and Josh took Josh’s STI. We raced to MAP, turbos whistling and VTECs screaming the entire way. As we pull into the lot we see the standard tuner staples, WRXs, STIs, EVOs, and a few suprises, Eagle Talons? Buick Rivieras?? Unidentifiable, debadged, jetta sentras???
The crowd was somewhat mixed, a few old fart thirty somethings like myself, lots of gen Yers and some young millennial jail bait high schoolers. To their credit the “kids” weren’t unruly nor exceedingly annoying. They watched the dyno runs, pounded mtn dews, and texted their friends across the garage. 3 hours of dyno runs, war stories, and kids texting, later we head to the theatre. GPS Josh gets on to the highway quickly goes the wrong way. We catch up to the caravan of tuners and such, about 40 cars long, and turn heads as we pull into the theatre parking lot. The group fills up the lobby of the theatre and there we wait… and wait… and ….. go in, no we wait. An hour and a large coke later we file in and take our seats. At midnight the flick starts and it doesn’t disappoint, ALERT SPOILER AHEAD

“SOYLENT GREEN IS PEOPLE!!! ITS PEOPLE!!!”

There pleanty of gearhead goodness, more American muscle than previous movies in the series, and some girl on girl snogging action. It was the #1 movie in America taking in $70+ million over the weekend, setting records and besting all of the former films in the series openings. Looks like we have a hit on our hands ladies and gentlemen, I think it’s safe to say that there will be a fast & furious 5. Lets try something different, comment on this story and post what you think the title of the next fast & furious will be. I say “More Faster & Furiouser Hybrid Heat”

  1. I say it is going to be "Fast N Furious Autocross Speed"

I can already hear Vin Diesel: "I live my life one parking lot at a time..."
